George was a successful corporate vice president. He had enjoyed a series of promotions for the last 20 years.
One day out of the blue George got a phone call. He was invited to interview for a position at a firm in another state where he had never lived. George agreed to the interview (why not – he had nothing to lose!) and received an amazing offer.
There were just two problems.
First, George’s wife had a job. She wasn’t sure she could find opportunities in the new location, although she was willing to make the sacrifice if George really wanted to do this.
Second, George wasn’t sure this move made sense. He would be moving to a different part of the country with different social norms. He knew the new company had a totally different culture from what he was used to. And he knew the housing market in the new location was priced considerably higher than the city where he currently lived.
George felt stressed. He knew he faced a tough career decision. But … where to begin? How do you sort things out? You know your decision will be critical. Of course you can recover from a mistake, but recovery can be costly in time and money.

Here’s what we will do. We will identify your decision and reframe your challenge to produce a positive, action oriented outcome. We specify a series of steps you can take to move forward.
Each 45-minute phone session will be customized to your needs. However, generally you can expect that
— I will listen carefully (and confidentially, within the law).
— I will suggest new ways to look at the problem.
— I will ask some questions and you will have questions too.
— We will come up with a new approach and (if appropriate) an action plan.
— I will record the call and give you an mp3 recording.

Today a Laser Session will be just $97. Because these slots are limited, there are no refunds and rescheduling may not be possible. I can’t promise to offer these sessions indefinitely.
“Will this call be right for me?”
If you have one specific question, then it’s perfect! If you are embarking on a major career change, a complex decision, and/or a response to a performance review or performance plan, we can get off to a good start but will usually need more time. Remember, with these Laser calls, there’s no advance prep.
Instead you can book the Career Strategy Session. In that program, I spend considerable time reviewing materials before your call. We can cover several topics. You benefit from follow-up email consulting, and make other materials available. And the call is much longer, so we have time to explore.

Oh yes…what happened to George? He didn’t make a decision on the spot, but he e-mailed back a few weeks later. He chose to remain where he was. During our call, we had talked about the possibility that he would have more attractive opportunities in a few more years, after he had taken certain steps. He would also have more bargaining power and his wife would have time to become more marketable. A few months later, he sent another message, confirming he had made the right choice.
