Career change starts with motivation. Dov Abramovsky was a successful lawyer in upstate New York. There was just one thing – he weighed 380 pounds. Yikes.
He wasn’t comfortable. He squeezed into airplane seats, where fellow passengers glared at him. He pretended his clothes shrunk in the dryer as he kept getting larger.
What triggered a change? His girlfriend said, “I’m gaining weight when I eat the way you do.”
So Dov went to Weight Watchers and began eating healthy meals at Subway.
Often a lifestyle change will trigger a desire for a career change. Not surprisingly, Dov began to recognize he was dissatisfied with his career in law. He decided to buy a subway franchise.
His employees taught him to make sandwiches. He’s lighter and happier in every way.
What made this change work?
Dov was flexible. He didn’t close off ideas because they seemed to conflict with his former career. He chose something he believed in. And he made the comitment.
