At the same time, you need information. Every career consultant will encourage you to network and talk to lots of people, including people you meet at parties.

So how do you sort this out? How do you keep from getting discouraged with all the unsolicited advice, dire predictions (“You’ll never make it”) and more. This video suggests that information and advice should come from different sources – one free, and one paid.
