: You’re still working on your day job and you’re beginning to start a side hustle. Your boss assigns you a project that you’d ordinarily dig your teeth into, but you realize you won’. Or maybe you’ll do the work but not get credit for the job.
Often you can modify the task so you commit less effort. Or you can find a way to reframe the task so you create a reward for yourself. Perhaps you can document skills for a future position, even though you won’t benefit here. Or you may use the opportunity to make contacts or develop new skills. Ideally, you can find a way to delegate, ethically, without ruffling too many feathers.
Generally, when you’re facing a task with low-motivation, your biggest time sink won’t be the task itself. Most people find that dreading the work, resenting the need to invest any time at all, and putting off the task will consume more time and energy than the task itself.
