CAREER CONSULTING AND COACHING
FOR MID-CAREER PROFESSIONALS AND EXECUTIVES
“My current job has been going well but I just hit a roadblock – a new boss, surprise performance review or even a complete reorganization. What are the next steps to take?”
“Can’t wait to escape this job and get out of Dodge. But I want to leave in one piece, on my own terms, and know where I’m going.”
“Retirement?? I need to choose a place to live and a new career to fit my new values and lifestyle.”
“I’m ready to find a new career but I’ve got SO much invested in staying where I am.”
“I’m juggling two offers. They both look good. How do I make a decision?”
“Does anybody REALLY change careers? Because I’ve been trying and it’s not working.”.
“My last career guide was the Parachute book. Seems a little out of touch for today, doesn’t it?”
“A lot of career guides seem targeted to beginners or people who are completely alone in the world. I’m an established professional with a personal life.”
“I just sold my company and got a big check. Now what?”
“I think I’m on the right track but I’d like an objective opinion.”
These scenarios are just some of the reasons people call a career consultant in general and me in particular. Here’s how I work with clients to address those challenges.
THE ALL-STAR GAME
A basketball star hires a coach to work on foul shots. A ballet dancer hires a coach to work on her upcoming performance as the Black Swan. And you hire a coach to work on whatever’s most important in your own career.
The All-Star Game (a/k/a Career Strategy Session) isn’t just another consulting session. It a powerful program where a lot of the action takes place before and after we actually talk. You can use the time – a full 60-90 minutes – to brainstorm, discuss, analyze, strategize, get your questions answered and get ready to take your first action steps.
The game begins before we meet. You send me any background info – resume, social media profiles, notes, performance reviews – and I guarantee to read anything you send 24 hours ahead of time. (Hopefully you haven’t written the next War and Peace, but we can always negotiate.)
And it’s not over when it’s over. You’ll get a week of follow-up email to answer questions that come up after we talk. You’ll get a recording of the call so you won’t have to take notes. And I’m happy to throw in some ebooks and a resume review session.
This program alas works well when you want ongoing consulting. This option is much more flexible (and generally more affordable) than typical 3x/month coaching. It’s priced so you get significant savings when you invest in multiple sessions and use them over a specific time period. You’ll end up getting more and paying less than you would for tradition 3x/month coaching … and my clients say it’s much more powerful.
