Why hire a career consultant?

Let’s face it: careers are more complicated these days. Many experienced executives and professionals find themselves considering options that didn’t exist when they started out. You may be encountering a challenging situation or experiencing a frustration that’s entirely new to you.

My consultations are designed to save clients time, energy and hassle. Sometimes they also save money by avoiding the wrong decision or speeding up a job search or decision process. They usually finish a consultation by saying, “I have a much clearer picture.  You’ve given me a whole new perspective. I feel confident that I am making the right decision.”

Your family and friends love you, but they get “compassion fatigue” and frankly, they rarely understand the challenges of career planning and career change, even if you are in the same field.  Why risk a friendship or strain a relationship when you can work with a professional consultant?

Chances are you’re way too close to your own situation, especially if you’re an executive or professional who’s achieved a certain level of career success.

When you work with me, you get straight information, not “answering a question with a question.” You don’t get woo-woo promises of magical solutions. You do get my unique blend of book smart knowledge, street smart experience and my own combination of irreverent humor and direct East Coast style.

My fees are reasonable compared to most career counselors, coaches and consultants. I keep my overhead low and work with systems and programs to maintain the best possible investment levels for my clients. I don’t offer free “get acquainted calls” to try to lock you into long-term, high-dollar programs.

Your sessions may be tax-deductible in the US  (ask your advisor because  each situation is different and I am not a tax expert).

You will most likely benefit from working with me if you are …

… wondering if it’s time to start a business

… thinking about returning to school for a new degree

… trying to decide between 2 competing offers

… evaluating a geographic move

… needing a sounding board to discuss a knotty political situation

… writing your resume and looking for guidance

… ready to look for a completely new career

… planning to take a sabbatical from your career or business
(and want to make the most of your time)
