These days it’s easy to express your views about a former employer, using your blog or one of the many social media, such as Facebook.
But will you face serious consequences?
Marcia Alboher’s excellent blog, Shifting Careers, posts an interview with a legal expert. While most employers won’t be able to take action against an ex-employee’s public tirade (and I suspect fewer will bother with the hassle and expense), you may do better to opt for discretion.
Apart from legal reasons, psychological research suggests that venting actually increases anger. In her book, Anger: The MisUnderstood Emotion, Carol Tavris questions the old adage to “Get it all out.”
In my own experirence, distraction, exercise and meditation are more likely to create positive change. I encourage my own clients to take their first steps to their next life, which seems to transform resentment almost by magic.
